If you are satisfied with your food hygiene rating, you can ask us to publish your hygiene rating early.
If you disagree with your rating, or have made improvements, you have 3 options:
- request a re-inspection
- appeal the rating
- submit a right to reply
Request a re-inspection
You can ask for a re-inspection if you have fixed the issues identified during your inspection.
To request a re-inspection, you must:
- complete the Food Standards Agency re-inspection request form
- pay £255 in advance
- email the completed form to us
We will review your request and arrange a revisit.
Appeal a food hygiene rating
You can appeal your food hygiene rating within 21 days of receiving it.
To make an appeal, you must complete and return the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme appeals form.
Respond to a food hygiene rating decision
You have the 'right to reply' to your hygiene rating. This lets you explain what you have done since your inspection.
For example, you may want to tell customers:
- what improvements you have made
- if there were unusual circumstances at the time of inspection
Your reply will be published with your hygiene rating.
